Workplace issue

Postby Andy1978 » Tue Oct 11, 2016 9:59 am

Hi,
Ive just been told that I need an ICD fitted due to an enlarged heart and an existing family condition. The issue I have is that I work in a food manufacturing environment which uses quite a few magnets. When I mentioned this to the specialist he quoted "you'll have to find another career", unfortunately its easier said than done and I do like working there strangely!
I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience regarding working with magnets in the workplace and if they have any information about it or a company who could measure the magnetism and give recommendations?
Any information would be great fully appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy, I don't have an ICD but you might find somebody who could help in the somerville foundation facebook group, it gets a lot more traffic than this forum. You could try British Heart Foundation or maybe contact your GUCH specialist nurse (if you have one).

Some info here: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/blog.asp?p=pacemaker-safety
