Hi,
We have found out that our 12 year old does need a Pulmonary Valve Replacement soon and the options are percutaneous or Open heart. Does anyone have any oppinions/experiences of either of these at a young age?
Thank you,
Your advice would be appreciated.

Hello Tony,
I am afraid that I am not up to date with the more modern surgical procedures, since surgery is no longer an option in my case. Had my PVR some 40 years ago. I opted for the "Piggy Valve" and the open heart was the only surgery on offer at that time.
But whichever you eventually choose, I hope your youngster's results are as long lasting as mine. Love from Lydia

Hi Tony,

I have had both! I'm 23 and was born with Pulmonary Atresia and VSD. I had valve replacement via open heart aged 4 then percutaneous age 11 and 12 - what would you like to know? I'd love to help.

Thanks,
Georgia
