Any runners on here?

Postby katedan » Sun Jan 17, 2016 8:15 pm

Hi Everyone,

I am 40 and was born with coarctation of the aortic valve and bicuspid aortic valve with mild stenosis. I have had three surgeries the last one in 2005 and I am currently in good health. For the last two years I have taken up running and in March this year I am due to run my first half marathon ( fund raising for SF) I just wanted to know if there are other people in the CHD community who are runners and how easy you have found it in terms of entering races and the health disclaimer!

Hi, I am 43, I only found out I had stenosis 2 years ago
I had the operation about 15 months ago
I have only just started running again
Managed 3.5km yesterday and felt good
My aim is to do 10k
I ran the new forest 1/2 marathon about 4 years ago, completely
Unaware I had this condition
So
Last few years been a bit of a shock, determined to put all behind me
If I can and move on, although life not easy and each day another challenge ahead.
