Retirement

Postby Nick261162 » Fri Dec 11, 2015 3:23 pm

Dear All,
Has anyone looked into retiring early on the grounds of ill health?
I am now 53 years old and have CCTGA but find it exhausting to work in a busy sales position day in & out.
Any comments you may have would be much appreciated.

Hi NIck,

I was told to retire from work totally but I could do some voluntary work as and when I felt able 20 years ago, at the age of 35. I took this advice and for many years I did voluntary work for BHF, GUCH, Citizens Advice Beauuea and a couple of local charities when I was able to. A lot of my work was done from home, particularly for GUCH, eventually becoming editor in about 2005. Although I do not do any regular work now I still help out here and there when I am able. I was also able to start drawing my works pension in November, when I turned 55. Hope this helps you make the right decision. Judith Parker

Thanks Judith!
This is encouraging to hear.
It looks as though I will have to keep going until I am 55!
